Park East Profile: Debbie Rochlin

We delight in presenting a rotating brief profile of a different member of the Park East community.

Debbie Rochlin
Director of Early Childhood and Director of Admissions

What is your proudest accomplishment?

I love being able to help children build a strong Jewish foundation from an early age.

Park East celebrates Jewish identity and tradition “from generation to generation.” What’s the most important lesson you learned from your parents or grandparents?

School didn’t come easy to me, and my mother, who was an Early Childhood teacher, encouraged me to never give up. I like to say that my mother was the “wind beneath my wings.” Her support made all the difference in my life, and inspired me to make it my mission to do the same for my students.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering Park East for their child?

The teachers at Park East enable children to be comfortable, to be real thinkers and to feel confident. Our school is a warm, nurturing, loving and safe environment and our goal is to infuse a love of Judaism and a strong sense of self in our students.

What’s your hidden talent?

I love to sing, dance, and cook. I have several favorite dishes; the most popular is my Gefilte fish.

What’s your favorite TV show at the moment?

Shtisel, on Netflix. I’m excited for season 3!
