We are always excited to share in your child’s birthday and other social opportunities. Socialization is one of our prime goals in the education of your child. We all want our children to be a good friend to others, inclusive and kind to their peers.
School Policy: For Early Childhood- Grade 2 birthday celebration in school, baked goods must be purchased online through the school. Please find the order form below.
Dates of Parties: It is essential that no party be scheduled in conflict with Shabbat or the Jewish holidays. Our population is diverse and we want all of our children to be able to participate.
Kashruth: It is vitally important that all food served at birthday parties outside of school also be consistent with the kashruth policies of Park East Day School. Click here for a list of kosher facilities in the local area. If you have any questions regarding kashruth, please do not hesitate to contact Rabbi Harold Einsidler, Ritual Director of Park East Synagogue, at 212-737-6900 ext. 1907. The following Rabbinic supervisions are acceptable.
Please note: For all in-school birthday parties, NO homemade or baked goods or products, even those with approved kashruth labels, will be allowed in the building. All purchases must be made online through our school website.
Bar/Bat Mitzvah Parties: We have begun a Bar/Bat Mitzvah registry to avoid conflicts among our children’s celebrations. Please notify Elaine Nadell in the school office as soon as you have set a date.
Invitations: With all birthday and Bar/Bat Mitzvah parties, when inviting children it is important to be as inclusive as possible. We recommend that in all Early Childhood classes that the entire class be invited. Within the grades, if more than half of a class is invited, it is recommended that the entire class be included. If you are inviting only the boys, all the boys should be invited. If you are inviting only the girls, all the girls should be invited.
Adult Supervision: It is very important to have sufficient adult supervision at all times.
If you have any questions about these guidelines or if you require additional information, please call the school office at 212-737-7330.
