Our School

  • Who We Are

Park East Day School offers exceptional education, from nursery to eighth grade, in a nurturing environment that fosters academic excellence and social growth.

We nurture the next generation of leaders, scholars, and innovators—individuals who think critically, demonstrate resilience in the face of challenges, and observe the world with curiosity and awareness, all while keeping their minds and hearts wide open. We help build each of our students’ confidence to engage in meaningful, unfiltered exchanges of ideas, in the classroom and throughout their lives.

Above all, we aim to prepare children to conquer life’s challenges, instill a profound pride in their heritage, and foster an unending bond with Judaism and Israel. We strive to have top high schools compete for our graduates.

Our award-winning dual curriculum combines General and Judaic Studies, with standout Science, Technology, and Math programs. Our students consistently rank among the top in New York City and New York State for Math. In the summers, we offer a day camp.

Our close partnership with Park East Synagogue enriches our students and enhances our facilities.

Our History

The school traces its roots to 1976, when Rabbi Arthur Schneier founded a nursery, which, in 1981, merged with East Side Hebrew Institute, a major institution on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The combined school was named the Park East Day School.

Our campus was erected with the generosity of Sam and Esther Minskoff, prominent real estate developers. To this day, the Minskoff family remains active in the Park East Synagogue and on the Board of our school.

In 1990, to honor Rabbi Schneier’s contributions to the school, it was renamed the “Rabbi Arthur Schneier Park East Day School”.

The school is an independent organization, with its own board of trustees, and 501(c)(3) status.
