ACT II After School Program

ACT II Session I runs from October 8, 2018 – January 25, 2019

Rabbi Arthur Schneier Park East Day School is delighted to present our After School Program, Act II, Session I, for Transitional 3s through grade 5 students. PEDS licensed and experienced teachers will be facilitating many of our sessions. In addition, we are delighted to announce affiliations with highly acclaimed institutions that will be providing their own trained personnel and programs, as well as other popular, experienced “outside” personnel who will be joining the Park East instructor’s cast.

A friendly reminder regarding after-school club policies:

  • There are no clubs when Park East Day School is closed, including snow days.
  • Payment and registration are only done online.
  • Class size limits will be strictly enforced.

Affiliations

Jason Shela founded The British Soccer Academy in 2006. It has become one of the largest and most respected youth programs in New York.  Jason and his staff of professional  soccer instructors will  transmit their  enthusiasm and love of soccer straight to your children.  Jason is also the proud father of two Park East alumni and one elementary school student who currently attends Park East Day School.

White Crane Martial Arts with Sifu Eddie Klein-The Karate classes are designed specifically to teach each child  on his or her grade level. They will  be taught  by Sifu Eddie Klein, a 4th degree black belt  who has been teaching Karate for 24 years and heads various after school programs and classes throughout New York City.

Kids Fitness NYC was established  by Elle Shindler, mother  of two Park East graduates. She was a trainer  in the Israeli Army and has adapted her knowledge into fun, child-centric programs.  As a parent,  she understands  the importance  of exercise for all children  and has developed many creative ways, both  individual   and as groups, to enhance children’s  physical activity.

Piano By Color by European Piano Academy was developed by Rozalia Ravitsky. Rozalia is classically trained and has an established music school for over 25 years with a unique teaching style that allows students to grow creatively while developing their musical identity. As soon as it began, Piano By Color has been a huge success here in New York City, allowing children as young as 3 years old to play an instrument, conduct music and read notes.

Yoga with Helaine Herman – Helaine has been a student and practitioner of yoga for more than 15 years. In 2003 she received her 200 hour certification from the renowned Sadie Nardini. In 2011 she received her early childhood yoga certification through Karma.  As an educator of children and a yoga enthusiast, Helaine takes her study further by bringing the benefits of yoga to her students.

Computers with Jaffa Nishli – Jaffa is currently the Computer Teacher at The Rabbi Arthur Schneier Park East Day School. She teaches computer to early childhood through 8th grade students and is in her twenty-fifth year as a teacher in our school. She studied Education and Sociology at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, as well as Computer Programming in Queens College, New York. Jaffa spent many summers as a computer teacher in NYIT– HORIZON Camp, Old Westbury NY. She also worked in The Israeli Mission to The United Nation for six years prior to teaching.  She loves and enjoys teaching computers in schools.

Heidi Wechsler has been an early childhood educator for more than 15 years and has had the greatest pleasure mentoring and educating children of various ages during both summer and school months.  One of Heidi’s greatest pleasures as a teacher and a mother is to see the excitement in her “children’s” eyes as she reads books of various genres while the children follow along.  Additionally, Heidi has enjoyed 10+ years of working and teaching children how to cook and bake all different types of foods.  Heidi loves finding new fun ways to work with everyday foods and making them healthy and delicious!

Project Science with Lauren Myer – Lauren graduated from the University of Wisconsin where she studied science, art and music. She has a masters in Special Education from NYU where she took graduate level science, literacy, and social studies classes. Today she continues to take graduate level sensory, art, gross and fine motor skills classes. Lauren is also certified in preschool yoga and takes multiple culinary classes. She truly enjoys collaborating with professionals in their fields and passing knowledge onto her students.

Shoshana Graham has been an educator at PEDS for over 20 years. She has taught both in the Judaic Studies program as well as the Early Childhood Center.  She loves to introduce the children to new concepts through songs, movement, art, and books. Shoshana shares the children’s enthusiasm for adventure and creativity!

FunFabulous Movement –  Veteran dance teacher Atara Serle has been a teacher to both children and adults of all ages for many years. In her own words she is an expert at at running, jumping, twirling, skipping hopping and “funning” with all of her students! Atara encourages creativity and joy as well as movement and coordination. Students of all ages will enjoy exercising in her fun filled classes.

In the heart of Manhattan’s Upper East Side, the Park East Day School celebrates academic excellence and Jewish identity for children age 2 – Grade 8.
