Park East Profile: Tracy Koy, Curriculum Development Coordinator

We delight in presenting a rotating brief profile of a different member of the Park East community.

Why Park East?
I began working in the building in January as a SETSS provider, and I was immediately struck by how the school, from its small class sizes to its positive focus on student learning, facilitated rapid strides in student achievement at all levels. As I got to know the Principal [Debbie Rochlin] and the Director of Guidance [Mimi Samter], it became clear to me that they truly understand and support a customized approach to supporting each child.

Did you always know you wanted to work in education?
I did! As a child, I lined up my dolls, taught them their ABCs and read to them.

What was your favorite subject in school?
History was a passion of mine. I still love learning about different places. My husband and I love to travel to different countries and discovering their history and culture through museums, talking to natives, eating local foods, and visiting local shops.

What is your proudest accomplishment?
My proudest accomplishment is my children. My husband and I have two sons, ages 28 and 23. They’re good, wholesome, loving people.

What’s your hidden talent?
I’m a great gardener. I learned about gardening from my mother, who grew herbs and flowers in a small garden growing up. My sister is a fabulous gardener as well.
